Platypus Kickbacks Terms & Conditions
You are opting in to receive marketing communications via email, mail, SMS and telephone from Platypus Shoes New Zealand. To stop receiving those communications from Platypus Shoes, you can choose to opt out after receiving an email or SMS via the opt-out function located at the bottom of every communication sent to you. Alternatively, you can send us a message via our Help Centre or call us on 1800 875 275.
Please note when opting out via the unsubscribe link within Platypus Shoes marketing emails, you are opting out from email marketing communications only. When opting out of Platypus SMS marketing communications via the opt out link function, you are opting out of SMS marketing communications only. To opt out of mail or all other forms of marketing, please send us a message via our Help Centre or call 1800 875 275.
When you choose to opt out from receiving marketing communications you will no longer receive notification of any Platypus Kickbacks Program promotions through that channel, and you forgo access to member offers, events, gifts and competitions.
1.2 There are 2 methods of entry into the Program:
Method 1 – Existing Subscriber >
If you are an existing subscriber to the Platypus Shoes New Zealand marketing database, and you have a unique customer ID (allocated to you after making a purchase with Platypus Shoes New Zealand), you will be contacted by Platypus Shoes regarding your inclusion in the Program as an existing subscriber. You will have the opportunity to notify Platypus Shoes if you don’t want to be included in the Platypus Kickbacks Program.
If you join the Platypus Kickbacks Program via this Method, you will receive an additional & immediate $20 Reward that is valid for 2 weeks from the date the Reward is issued to your Member account. Additionally, 100 bonus points will be assigned to your Platypus Kickbacks Member account under this Method.
Once you join, you will earn 1 point for every $1 spent, and every 200 points you earn will convert into a $20 reward, which is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
If you choose to opt-out of inclusion in the Platypus Kickbacks Program via this Method, you may choose to join the Platypus Kickbacks Program at a later date via Method 2.
If you are an existing Platypus Shoes subscriber who does not have a unique customer ID, you will be notified of the Platypus Kickbacks Program via an email from Platypus Shoes New Zealand and will be prompted to join as a New Member.
Method 2 – New Member >
If you are a new customer to Platypus Shoes New Zealand, you will be prompted to join the Platypus Kickbacks Program as a New Member. You will be entered into the Program using the email address you provided at sign up and 100 bonus points will be assigned to your Member account after joining the Program. Once you join, you will earn 1 point for every $1 spent, and every 200 points you earn will convert into a $20 reward, which is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
1.3 You must be a resident of New Zealand to become a member of the Platypus Kickbacks Program.
1.4 You must be 18 years or older and hold a unique and valid email address to be a member of the Platypus Kickbacks Program.
1.5 Employees of the Accent Group are not eligible to join. This is exclusively for our customers who don’t get to enjoy all the other benefits of working with us.
1.6 The Platypus Kickbacks program is for personal shopping only – Rewards will only be issued to those we deem to be legitimate personal customers. We reserve the right to reject your Kickback Reward/s if we know or suspect that you intend to resell some or all of the products specified in your order as a part of a commercial business.
1.7 You can use your Platypus Kickbacks membership at any Platypus Shoes retail store in New Zealand and at the Platypus Shoes New Zealand website at www.platypusshoes.co.nz.
1.8 To be eligible for Platypus Kickbacks Program benefits and exclusive offers in-store, you must identify yourself as a Platypus Kickbacks Program Member before purchase by providing the name and email address you used when signing up to the Program. When shopping online, you must log in using the email address you used when signing up, in order to access and use any valid Rewards and see any information relating to your Platypus Kickbacks account.
1.9 Your Platypus Kickbacks Program account is issued by Platypus Shoes and is not transferable to any other person.
1.10 Platypus Shoes will not accept any liability for any of your member communications that are misdirected, lost or not received.
1.12 Platypus Shoes may, at any time and in its discretion, require you to provide proof of identification (in a form requested by Platypus) to verify the authenticity of your membership and compliance with the Platypus Kickbacks Program Terms and Conditions. Failure to provide proof of identification may result in termination of your membership.
1.13 You are to read these Program Terms and Conditions in conjunction with any additional conditions associated with Rewards, including without limitation the Website Terms and Conditions and other relevant Platypus Shoes Policies and Terms and Conditions.
1.14 It is your responsibility to update your Platypus Kickbacks Program member profile with details of your email address, phone number and postal address, otherwise Platypus Shoes may not be able to contact you about your membership, rewards, special offers or entry to competitions or Member events.
1.15 Platypus Shoes reserves the right to change, cancel or modify the Terms of your membership, or withdraw the Program, at any time. Platypus Shoes will make all reasonable efforts to communicate changes in advance to you via email or the Platypus website.
2. Rewards & Points –
2.1 Members will earn Points on all purchases they make at any of Platypus Shoes New Zealand stores or online, where they identify themselves in making that purchase by providing their full name & email address in-store, or by logging into their Platypus Kickback Member account online.
A Member will receive 1 Point for every $1 spent, rounded down to the nearest dollar ($). Points can only be added to the Platypus Kickbacks account used at the time the purchase was made. On accumulating the first 200 points, Members are automatically assigned a $20 Reward, then for each subsequent 200 points earnt, Members are assigned further $20 Reward(s). All Rewards issued from accumulating 200 points will have a 6-month expiry valid from the date of issue.

Points to reward conversion:

If you complete a single transaction that results in your Points balance reaching or exceeding multiples of the 200 point denomination, you will receive a single Reward to a higher value. For example, if you spend $400 therefore earning 400 points, you will be issued 1 x $40 Reward. If your transaction is placed online and the delivery of the order is split, this may not be the case & you may instead be issued your Reward(s) in $20 denominations.
Reward redemption does not accumulate towards spending level and therefore does not accumulate Points. For example, if you purchase an item valued at $100, but use $20 in Rewards in payment for that transaction, you are only entitled to earn Points on $80 of the transaction value.
Your Points balance is calculated on a daily basis, except for online orders which are calculated once your order has been dispatched. If you are eligible for a Reward or multiple Rewards, you will receive these via email the next day. When a Reward is issued, the email you receive will list the expiry of the Reward and this information will also be available to you online in your Platypus Kickbacks account.
2.2 To redeem a Reward as either an Existing Subscriber or New Member, you must spend $100 or more in a single transaction either in-store or online, excluding shipping costs. Rewards cannot be used for payment of laybys or applied to prior purchases.
Your Reward is not transferable, cannot be redeemed for cash, cannot used against prior purchases or used for the purchase of gift cards (physical or electronic).
Using your Reward in-store:
When shopping in-store, you must provide the email address you used when joining the Program in order for your Reward to be applied to your transaction by a Platypus Shoes team member. Your reward can only be used on purchases valued at $100 or more
Using your Reward online:
When shopping online, you must create an account using the email address supplied when joining the Program and be logged in to your account when checking out, in order for your Reward to be applied to your online transaction. At the checkout page, your Reward will appear with a prompt to ‘Apply your Reward’ which you must select in order for the Reward to be used as part of payment towards your transaction. Your reward will only apply on orders valued at $100 or more. If you do not select to apply your Reward to the transaction, it will remain unused on your Member account until it expires.
2.3 Other than any Rewards issued to you, the Platypus Kickbacks Program may give you access to Member competitions and events or may include the allocation of surprise gifts and rewards to your account from time to time. At its sole discretion, Platypus Shoes may provide access to these items to some or all Members of the Program. You will be notified via email should any of these apply your Platypus Kickbacks account.
2.4 If you do not adhere to these Terms and Conditions, Platypus reserves the right to cancel your Platypus Kickbacks account and any associated Rewards at any time.
2.5 Platypus Shoes reserves the right to withdraw, cancel or vary the Rewards offered to you within the Program at its discretion, including Rewards awarded in error or earned fraudulently. Platypus Shoes will make all reasonable efforts to communicate these changes to you via email or the Platypus Shoes New Zealand website.
2.6 The Platypus Kickbacks program is intended for personal shopping use only. Platypus reserves the right to withdraw or cancel rewards that we know, or suspect were earned as a result of purchasing goods that are intended for resell or commercial activity.
If you have already redeemed these rewards on a purchase, we reserve the right to cancel and refund these orders, followed by removing the rewards from your loyalty account.
2.7 If your Membership is terminated for any reason, your Rewards will no longer be valid and will be rendered null and void.
2.8 If you redeem a Reward for the purchase of multiple items, the application of that Reward’s value will be split proportionally over the products in the order based on the value of each item. For example, if you purchase a pair of shoes and a pack of socks, you might see the bulk of your $20 reward being applied to your shoes, based on the value of this item being higher.
If your order is cancelled or you choose to return or exchange a product, Platypus Shoes will adjust your Member account so that the correct Reward amount is returned to you. The amount returned will be based on the portion of the reward that was applied to the specific product you are returning, as stated above.
2.9 You can view your Rewards at any time by logging in to your account on the Platypus Shoes New Zealand website.
2.10 You can only earn and redeem Rewards at Platypus Shoes retail stores in New Zealand and on the Platypus Shoes New Zealand website (www.platypusshoes.co.nz).
2.11 You can only redeem rewards from one (1) Platypus Kickbacks Member account per transaction.
2.12 Certain products and promotions may be excluded from the Program and this will be notified to you where it is applicable via the Terms and Conditions of the specific promotion.
2.Returns / Refunds
If you used a Reward when you made your purchase, the total amount you paid will have been reduced. Any refund owing will be processed based on the amount paid for the transaction, after any Rewards were applied & the Reward will be returned to your Platypus Kickbacks account.
If you earnt Points when making your purchase, these Points will be taken off your Points balance when an eligible transaction has been cancelled, reversed or relates to a refund given.
- If your purchase (either in part or in full) is cancelled, reversed or returned & Points were earnt, but the number of those Points did not reach the 200 point threshold, your Points balance will be deducted to the value of the item(s) being returned rounded down to the nearest whole number.
For example, if you purchase a $150 item, you will earn 150 points. If your purchase is cancelled, reversed or returned, 150 points will be deducted from your Platypus Kickbacks account.
If you earnt Points when making a Purchase, and those points reached the 200 point threshold which results in a $20 Reward being granted & subsequently that purchase is cancelled, reversed or a refund is given, the following paragraph explains how this will be handled:
- If your purchase is cancelled, reversed or returned & for which 200 Points or more was earned, your Points balance will be deducted to the value of the item(s) being cancelled, reversed or returned (rounded down to the nearest whole number) but the Reward will remain on your Platypus Kickbacks account.
For example, if you purchase two items, one for $100 and the other for $120, you will earn 220 points in total. As you have reached the 200 point threshold, you will receive a $20 Reward for that transaction, and 20 points will remain on your Platypus Kickbacks account. When cancelling, reversing or returning this purchase, you will retain the Reward issued, however, 220 points will be deducted from your Platypus Kickbacks account.
Collecting personal information

17.4. We accept Promotional Vouchers and Coupon Codes as payment, or partial payment, for certain or specified purchases online. 18. Gift Cards
18.1. Platypus Shoes Gift Cards can be purchased in-store and are redeemable at any Platypus Shoes retail store in New Zealand or online at www.platypusshoes.co.nz.
18.2. Gift Cards are valid for 3 years from the issue date, or until no amount remains on the Gift Card. Any balance that remains on the Gift Card after expiry will not be available for use.
18.3. Gift Cards cannot be exchanged (wholly or partly) for cash, reloaded, topped up or used to purchase other gift cards.
18.4. The value shown on a Gift Card includes GST.
18.5. Gift Cards are partially redeemable and any unused balance can be used for future purchases up to the expiry date.
18.6. Gift Cards should be treated like cash. Lost or stolen gift cards will not be replaced or refunded.
18.7. Items purchased using Gift Cards that are subject to our returns or refunds policy will be refunded as store credit. We reserve the right to issue you with a new Gift Card equivalent to the value of your refunded Gift Card purchase.
18.8. Should we suspect any fraud relating to a Gift Card, we may refuse to redeem the Gift Card until we are satisfied that no fraud has occurred.
18.9. We reserve the right to change these conditions at any time and will provide at least 14 days’ notice by posting the changes on this website.
